Robert Returns…to Berlin!

On June 16th, 2024, The Sublime Theater will present its production of John Crutchfield’s one-man-show Robert Returns at the cabaret theatre, “Zimmer 16,” at Florastraße 16 in Berlin-Pankow.

After a premier and successful run in the United States in 2022 and 2023, Robert Returns will receive its European premier this summer in Berlin.

John Crutchfield’s latest one-man-show – a verse play with original live music – is the sequel to his celebrated The Songs of Robert, which won a Judges Award for Outstanding Solo Performance at the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival. Like the original, the sequel is directed by Steven Samuels and features Crutchfield in over a dozen roles as well as singing and playing original songs on guitar and banjo.

The play tells the story of a middle-aged man who returns to his hometown in Southern Appalachia after being named in a mysterious last-will-and-testament. There he encounters old classmates and friends, confronts a hometown changed beyond recognition, and discovers a family secret that alters his understanding of himself and his place in the world.

No knowledge of the prequel is necessary to enjoy this by turns hilarious, strange, and moving show.

The performance will start at 4pm sharp (16:00) and lasts approximately 75 minutes.

Tickets are 10€/5€. Seating is limited. To order tickets, click here.
